Block 1: Introducing the Next Step

This block is all about introducing The Next Step. Which changes occured in the past, and  how can golf course owners and operators seize opportunities that ly ahead in the future?

We will start by introducing the so called 'new golfer'; the customer of the future is a different one than used to be.

Furthermore the nominees for the EGCOA Growing the Game Award will be announced. They will all present their initiatives to grow the game.  

First speaker in this block will be Jan Ekblom, the director of Club & Golf Course Management for the Swedish Golf Federation. He will talk about the success and downfall of golf in Sweden, and will share the results of the survey the federation conducted; 'Why a golfer is leaving its membership of a golf club'.  

The growing the game award nominees all have two things in common: They love golf, and they have an idea how you can grow the game. Several initiatives will be presented on stage, such as efforts to involve more people in the game, or the start of a new kind of golf club by using online resources. Do you have suggestions for initiatives that deserve the EGCOA Growing the Game Award? Please let us know! We are open for suggestions until November 1, when we will announce the nominees.
